Low-cost transatlantic airline Play Air has signed a distribution agreement with Sabre as it seeks to expand its presence in key markets including Northern Europe, the US and Canada.
The multi-year agreement will give travel agents working with Sabre access to PLAY’s expanding affordable flight network across North America and Europe.
The airline offers cost-effective transatlantic travel, making Iceland a hub for travelers from both North America and Europe.
The airline currently operates a state-of-the-art Airbus fleet and plans to fly passengers to up to 40 destinations by 2024.
“By bringing PLAY airline content into Sabre’s GDS, our agency partners will be able to offer even more value and choice to their customers,” said Alessandro Ciantimino, vice president of airline distribution at Sabre.
“This agreement is part of our broader strategy to expand low-cost airline content in the Sabre Travel marketplace in 2024 and beyond, helping travel agents seamlessly access the diverse travel options their customers are looking for.”
PLAY Airlines plans to launch new flights to Aalborg, Denmark in June 2025 and recently added Toronto and Washington DC to its North American schedule.
Einar Örn Ólafsson, CEO, said: “Our partnership with Sabre marks an important milestone as we expand our footprint in the North American and European markets.
“Sabre’s strong dealer network in these regions will play a key role in driving sales and increasing awareness to new audiences.”
