The Main Community Foundation has awarded a $47 grant totalling $271,987 to nonprofits serving the Portland area through the Edward H. Davis Benevolent Fund and the Lines Thompson Fund. The Daveis Benevolent Fund awarded $95,487 with 12 grants, with donors adding six more grants totaling $25,900. The recipients included the Boys and Girls Clubs in Southern Maine, the Portland Public Schools Foundation, and Wayneflute School. The Rines Thompson Fund has awarded 28 grants totaling $147,000 and an additional $3,600 grant to recipients, including the Falmouth Conservation Trust, Kino and Portland Housing Services Corp.


More than 100 women who care for Southern Maine have donated roughly $24,000 to the Independent Senior Network, a nonprofit dedicated to helping seniors who want to age at home.
