Patrick Mahomes has no interest in talking politics.
Patrick was asked about his family’s position shortly after former President Donald Trump praised Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Brittany Mahomes’ wife, calling her a “huge Trump fan.”
“I’ve always said,” he explained to reporters via A to Z Sports on Sept. 11, “I don’t want my position or my platform to be used to endorse any candidate or whatever.”
Rather, the 28-year-old sees his role as “informing people to register to vote” and encouraging them to “do their own research and make the best decision for themselves and their family.”
And Patrick believes having the ability to make their own decisions is “what makes America great.”
“I’ve grown up with people from all walks of life, all backgrounds,” he continued. “The best thing about a football locker room, and it’s similar to the baseball locker room I grew up in, is that people can come together and accomplish things and achieve a common goal.”

He added, “When I’m in a relationship with someone, I don’t think about their political views. I think about them and how they treat other people.”
And the Super Bowl winner doesn’t think the former president’s comments about Brittany (with whom he has two children, 3-year-old Sterling and 20-month-old Bronze) will have any repercussions for her.
“I think at the end of the day it’s about me and my family and how we treat other people,” Patrick explained, “and I think you can see that Brittany does a lot in the community.”
For now, he and his family plan to continue living their lives to the best of their ability, unaffected by these “political times.”
Patrick and Brittany were once again caught up in the latest political discussion shortly after Taylor Swift, who is currently dating Patrick’s friend and teammate Travis Kelcy, endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris.
Following her endorsement, former President Trump shared his own thoughts on the matter, saying he “much prefers Mrs. Mahomes” to his friend Taylor.
“If you want to know the truth, she’s a big Trump fan,” he told Fox News on Sept. 11. “I’ve never been a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a matter of time.”
Taylor also touched on President Joe Biden, whom Taylor publicly supported in the 2020 presidential election. “She’s a very liberal person,” the 45th president continued. “She always seems to support the Democrats, and she’s probably going to pay a price for that in the marketplace.”
“But I like Brittany. I think Brittany’s great,” he added. “She’s a huge MAGA fan. I like her a lot more than Taylor Swift. She’s the wife of a great quarterback. I think she’s great.”
