Wildfires continue to ravage Southern California, and victims are just beginning to grapple with the costs of rebuilding.
Donations have been pouring in from all over the country, from California corporations to Hollywood A-listers, Fortune 500 companies, and ordinary Americans.
It depends on several factors, including the size of the home, the extent of the damage, and the type of insurance the homeowner has, according to data from Angi, a housing services website.
Mr. Angi estimates that the average home fire damage repair costs $27,258, but depending on the extent of the damage, the price could reach up to $180,000.
But the median home price in the affluent Pacific Palisades area, home to Southern California’s worst wildfires, is more than $3 million, according to a JPMorgan report released Wednesday. In Butte County, where the Camp Fire burned in 2018, the median home price was less than $500,000.
Element Homes, a California custom home builder, estimated the average cost to rebuild a Malibu home after December’s Franklin fire at $200,000 per 1,000 square feet.
