We look forward to announce that Overwatch 2 supports DirectX 12. For the first time, Overwatch 2 supports multiple graphics APIs. This update is part of our continued commitment to providing technology and improvements to our players.
DirectX 12 is an important step forward, but DirectX 11 remains the lead API and continues to be supported. This update marks the beginning of your journey with DirectX 12. This explores the potential to enhance the Overwatch 2 experience. Our goal is to leverage advances in GPU technology to enable Overwatch 2 to fully embrace cutting-edge innovation from the latest GPUs, providing players with an enhanced experience. DirectX 12 support is currently a beta feature. Some systems may have poor performance compared to DirectX 11. There may be some stud sounds during gameplay.
To enable DirectX 12:
Start Overwatch 2 and go to Options from the main menu. Under the video, find the option to select the graphics API. Select DirectX 12 from the drop-down menu. Restart the game to apply the changes. PCS that cannot support DirectX 12 cannot confirm the option to turn it on in the game.
