The Baltimore Orioles are “very, very hopeful” that star Shortstop Gunnar Henderson (Cost tension) is ready for the opening day.
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters Wednesday that Henderson put a mild strain on the right side.

Henderson beat the Toronto Blue Jays after their first innings in 11-8 spring training last Thursday, calling it “a discomfort in the bottom right.” Henderson jumped at the top of the first inning and apparently felt pain after hitting the ground.
Henderson has hit a .167 on the plate appearance six times this spring.
The 2023 American League Rookie of the Year won his first All-Star Node in 2024. He also stole 21 bases. He came in fourth in the MVP voting.
Henderson dealt with a left oblique injury during spring 2024 training, but recovered in time for the start of the regular season.
