Oregon State significantly strengthened its freshman class on National Signing Day with four-star quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagaportele signing from California to the Ducks. Oregon currently has the No. 5 recruiting class in the 2025 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports, behind Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia and Texas.
Sagaportele, who is ranked No. 106 in the 2025 recruiting class according to 247Sports, has been with Cal since July. The top-ranked player from Hawaii, who graduated from James Campbell High School, recently visited Oregon, California and Georgia before finalizing his commitment to play for Dan Lanning next season.
“Keawe Sagaportele has clearly established himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the country this offseason,” 247Sports national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins said in a scouting report on Sagaportele. Sagaportele will be the second quarterback in Oregon State’s recruiting class, joining four-star quarterback Akili Smith Jr., who committed to the program this summer. The Ducks currently have six top-100 players in their 2025 recruiting class.
