Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel on Saturday became the FBS all-time leader in touchdowns with 179. Gabriel’s second touchdown pass in the 39-18 win over Maryland surpassed Case Keenum, who had 178 touchdowns with Houston from 2007 to 2011.
Gabriel took the lead midway through the third quarter when he singled out offensive lineman Genoris Wilson for a 3-yard score. Just before halftime, with 20 seconds left in the second quarter, he tied Keenum’s all-time record with a 9-yard touchdown pass to Terrence Ferguson.
The Ducks QB threw his third TD pass, connecting with Evan Stewart for a 17-yard score late in the fourth quarter. Gabriel completed 23-of-34 passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for an additional 28 yards on four carries.
With the win over Maryland, No. 1 Oregon State improved to 10-0 (7-0 Big Ten). Matchups against Wisconsin (5-4) and Washington (5-5) remain on the regular-season schedule, after which a trip to the Big Ten championship game is likely.
Gabriel has 146 passing touchdowns, 32 rushing scores and one receiving touchdown in six college seasons.
Gabriel has played for three schools during his career, scoring 70 TDs at UCF, 55 TDs at Oklahoma, and 21 TDs so far at Oregon. He rushed for 8 TDs with the Knights, 18 TDs with the Sooners, and 6 TDs with the Ducks. His only receiving touchdown came at UCF during the 2021 season.
Gabriel’s most TD passes in a season was 32 as a sophomore in 2020. He rushed for 12 touchdowns as a senior in 2023.
Keenum scored 155 touchdowns and also rushed for 23 points for the Cougars. He completed two 44-touchdown passes on the season and threw 48 as a senior. His highest rushing TD season total was nine points in the 2007 season as a freshman.
The top five on the FBS all-time touchdown list are Sam Hartman (154), Baker Mayfield (153) and Bo Nix (152).
