Dwight Gooden and AFA collaborate on “Walk in the Park” fundraiser
Former New York Mets baseball legend Dwight Gooden teamed up with the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) to help end Alzheimer’s disease with AFA’s annual Alzheimer’s Walk in the Park. The walk raised approximately $50,000 to support AFA’s programs, services and research projects.
Services supported by Walk proceeds include the AFA helpline, caregiver support groups, educational programs, and research toward better treatments and cures. AFA funds research nationally and around the world, including at New York University Langone Hospital Long Island, the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research, and Stony Brook University.
As AFA’s Honorary Walk Ambassador, Gooden cut the ribbon to begin the Walk, threw out the ceremonial first pitch, and spoke about the impact aid and support has on those experiencing the challenges of this disease.
