A year away, Chicagoans can soon enjoy the unique, luxurious baths and spa experiences that were first born in New York City.
A suitably dubbed bathhouse, the 40,000-square-foot wellness oasis will open next year at 1010 W. Madison Street in West Loop, with cold tubs, coed saunas, hot pools, steam rooms and massages.
According to the architect’s newspaper, the three-storey Chicago Bathhouse, the first front post base outside of NYC, will be “3 indoor pools and two outdoor pools with a mix of hot, cold and salt experiences, as well as four outdoor pools. There are different saunas and treatment rooms available for booking. It offers a multi-sensory journey.

The building itself is a feat of the architectural wonders itself, designed by Gensler, one of the world’s most famous architectural companies. Expect to be wrapped in a structure with brick and glass topped with rooftop amenities space.
Last week, the developer attended a community meeting and announced that construction of the project would officially begin in March.
According to Block Club Chicago, the project “does not require further city council approval and has already received construction permits, including permits for pile operation.”
At this point, a new destination is scheduled to debut in the spring of 2026. Until then, you’ll find us at similar Aire Ancient Baths at the best spa in Chicago.
