RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) — North Hills’ new Main District store is starting to open after three years of construction and a $350 million investment.
The anchor is 3 stories and 50,000 Restoration Hardware.
An atrium is being constructed on the top floor, offering a unique experience for guests, and a restaurant and wine bar will also be opening in this space.
“I’m really looking forward to it. It’s definitely going to be beautiful,” Raleigh resident Jana Jones said.
The restaurant is scheduled to open in mid-October.
“I think it’s great,” said Kevin Nguyen, a Raleigh resident. “It’s going to bring a lot more people here, which is a good thing.”
New office, retail and residential space will also be built at the former JCPenney site.
“The closure of JCPenney in 2020 gave us the opportunity to start construction,” said Callie Walker, development director for Kane Realty.

“This will be a very vibrant and exciting addition to the Main District. Directly behind me is a half-acre public square that will be the site of many events and activities throughout the year.”
Madewell opened on Monday, and J. Crew and other retailers are expected to start welcoming customers within the coming weeks.
Nearby, Quintessentials, a small, woman-owned store that’s been in business for 30 years, is banking on the expected increase in foot traffic.
“We’re gearing up for the fourth quarter, which means all of the holiday season coming up in the fall,” said Julia Brown, Quintessentials’ assistant manager.
This new section added 1,000 parking spaces.
