After that, they allowed a technical point and an escape, resulting in a two-point difference. He got a 3-point takedown with 30 seconds left in the second period, but Upstate’s head coach challenged and reversed it to keep it 2-2. No. 7 Kai Olin, who entered the starting lineup for the first time at Reynolds Coliseum at No. 141, lost to App State’s Shawn Carter, who defaulted with an injury early in the third period, and lost to North Carolina State for team points. That gave them a 6-3 lead.

Scott dominated until the third period, scoring a technical fall to end the match early and extend his team’s lead to 11.
