A small plane crashed into a home in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota on Saturday afternoon, and everyone boarded and sparked a fire, officials said.
Brooklyn Park Fire Chief Sean Conway said at a press conference on Saturday it was not immediately clear how many people were on board, the Brooklyn Park fire chief said. Authorities said they are still investigating the cause of the crash.
Conway said that all the people in the house at the time had left safely. It was not clear if they left the house before or after the crash.
SOCATA TBM7, which took off from Iowa’s Des Moines International Airport and on its way to Blaine Airport, Anoka County, Minneapolis, crashed around 12:20pm local time, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.
The video posted on social media seemed to show the house at the end of a garden filled with trees engulfed in flames. A siren could be heard in the background of the video.
Another angle of the scene showed a large amount of smoke rising from a house in the middle of the neighborhood. The houses on either side seemed unaffected by the fire. At least three firefighters were able to see them unloading their homes.
The National Transportation Safety Board will lead the crash investigation with the support of the FAA.
The NTSB said investigators are on their way to the crash site and are expected to arrive on Sunday. Once there, the investigator will evaluate the site and the plane.
The investigation focuses on pilots, aircraft and operating environments, the NTSB said. The agency plans to collect many records, including flight track data and air traffic control communications.
