“At this moment, thousands of Ukrainian troops are completely surrounded by Russian troops, and are in a very bad and vulnerable position,” US President Donald Trump wrote on every cap on social media on Friday.
Trump’s rant is a clear reference to the Monday or Tuesday evacuation of approximately 10,000 Ukrainian troops, from the 250 square miles of prominent one he once had in Kursk Oblast in western Russia.
Ukrainians are beaten. But they are not surrounded. “That’s a lie,” writes Kriegsforscher, a Ukrainian drone operator who fought in Kursk.
“Our teams understand the situation in Kursk well,” said Tatarigami, founder of Frontelligence Insight, a Ukrainian analytics group, and “there are no troops under siege.”
Ukrainian forces invaded Kursk in August, with the aim of Ukrainian President Voldymir Zelensky eventually taking over the Russian soil strips that could be exchanged for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
For six months, the notable ones were retained. Then, on February 25, the elite Russian drone group (Rubicon Center of Advanced Manned Systems) accused a devastating wave of attacks on the main supply line supporting the Ukrainian rison site in Sudzha, the center of Kursk’s salience.

Drone attack
Adopting what analyst Andrew Perpetua described as “advanced drone tactics” involving elaborate ambushing involving multiple explosive drones, Rubicon quickly knocked out hundreds of Ukrainian cars and essentially strangled Kursk’s Ukrainian brigade.
Two weeks later, on Monday or Tuesday, Ukrainian survivors escaped from Kursk, leaving behind valuable heavy equipment, but retained thousands of lives.
“Retreats were generally organized, but sometimes they were confusing,” writes Tatarigami. “There is no threat of siege and there is no evidence to suggest that it is not.”
By falsely claiming that thousands of Ukrainians are at risk of death or capture, Trump effectively eliminates Putin’s position as much as possible.
Finally, we resolved the two-week dropout that was precipitated by a tragic February 28 press conference at the Oval Office on February 28th. Meanwhile, Trump and Vice President JD Vance unfairly accused Vice President Zelensky of not fully grateful for past US aid.
Moscow must agree to the same terms. Or you need to request it for itself. Trump argued that informal talks with Putin are on track and that the Russian-Ukraine war could soon end.
However, Trump appears to have framed the initial argument over the false claim that Russia holds thousands of Ukrainians, essentially hostages, in Kursk. “I urged President Putin to spare their lives,” Trump wrote.
However, Kursk does not have thousands of Ukrainian troops. They left a few days ago, despite Putin might argue. “It’s wise to rely on intelligence,” Tata Rigami advised, “It’s not Putin’s words.”
