New Mexico State University continues its streak of being ranked among U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Colleges.
NMSU was ranked on the Social Mobility list (tied for 106 schools) and among the top public schools (tied for 135 schools). When it comes to best undergraduate programs, NMSU ranks in Engineering (139 ties), Psychology (146 ties), Nursing (149 ties), Computer Science (193 ties), and Business (198 ties). did.
“NMSU offers the most valuable programs with student success as our primary goal,” said Interim Chancellor Lakshmi Reddy. “While ranking systems may have different criteria and may not include student success, we recognize the need to know how we compare to our peers. Many of our programs have improved in the rankings and I would like to congratulate our faculty and staff on their excellent performance.”
NMSU also ranked among the best online programs, including bachelor’s programs (81 ties) and business bachelor’s programs (31 ties). In terms of master’s programs, NMSU ranked in criminal justice (tied for 53rd place), information technology programs (70th-92nd), engineering (84th-109th) and master’s of business administration (tied for 159th).
There are also several graduate school rankings, including Best Engineering School (tied for 135 schools), Best Fine Arts Program (tied for 135 schools), and Best Public Relations Program (tied for 155 schools).
