The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a dramatic 36-33 loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday, ending their winning streak at 10. The Eagles held a 13-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, but allowed 22 points in the final 15 minutes and lost by a touchdown with six seconds left.
It was a tough day for the Eagles, who currently have 12 wins and 3 losses. Although they lost starting QB Jalen Hurts early to a concussion, they were still in a position to win thanks to the good play of backup QB Kenny Pickett.
Defensively, the Eagles forced five turnovers that would normally lead to a win. Head coach Nick Sirianni spoke after the game and used the word “sloppy” a lot to describe his team’s ability to play such a winnable game.
“It’s just sloppy,” Sirianni said. “The penalties are sloppy. Too many players on the field is sloppy. The fundamentals are sloppy. When you’re playing a good football team like we played today and you’re sloppy, no matter how many turnovers you force, it’s difficult. What I told them is if we’re sloppy in any area, it’s always going to be my fault as the head coach. ”
The Eagles will look to bounce back next Sunday when they host the rival Cowboys.
