The NFL has released the official language for the Packers’ proposal to change league rules and ban tash pushes.
The changes to the rules will be discussed and possibly voted at future owner meetings, and the Packers’ suggestion to ban a highly effective version of the Eagles’ quarterback sneaking will attract most attention.
A brief summary of the NFL in the proposal explains: “According to Green Bay. Rule 12, Section 1 amends rule 12 to prohibit offensive players from pushing against teammates who have received the snaps right behind the snap.”
If the Packers’ proposal passes, Rule 12, Section 1 states, “An offensive player may not be able to attack immediately.
Pushing the quarterback forward with a sneak will result in a 10-yard penalty.
You will need to vote 24 “yes” to pass the rules change. The Packers clearly vote for yes. The Eagles clearly vote no. Tush Push will be banned if the Packers can convince them to join the 23 teams. The Eagles try to convince at least eight teams. This attempts to convince the way to stop Tush Push should be in defense, not in the rules change.
