For better or worse, the Dallas Cowboys have always been one of the most talked about teams in the NFL, thanks to their national fan base, outspoken owners, and decades of success during the first half of the Super Bowl era. So it’s no surprise that there will be news and notes starting in Week 10 as their starting quarterback, who was signed just before the start of this season with the highest guaranteed money in NFL history, will undergo season-ending surgery.
And while the 9-0 Chiefs have found ways to win without looking like the dominant offensive juggernaut they’ve seen for much of the Patrick Mahomes era, there are glaring holes in the offensive line. It is not surprising that More big players will be at the top of this list once the season passes halfway through.
No matter who you’re rooting for or against, stay with Yahoo Sports for all the NFL news and notes for the rest of Week 10 of the 2024 regular season.
Dak Prescott undergoes season-ending surgery
Prescott reportedly injured his hamstring, causing a partial tear from the hamstring bone, which will keep him out for the rest of the season. He watched Dallas’ recent home loss (a 34-6 blowout to the hated division rival Eagles) and is scheduled to undergo surgery on Wednesday after seeking a second opinion.
Starting in Week 11, the Cowboys will rely on backup quarterbacks Cooper Rush and Trey Lance to lead the way for the rest of the season. The Cowboys are 3-6, which is definitely not going well at this point in the year. Amid the Cowboys’ struggles, Jerry Jones said he has no intention of changing coaches after the team’s blowout loss at home. stay tuned.
Chiefs left tackle leaves early, returns from ankle injury
The Chiefs have found just about every way to pull out a late win this season, and while Week 10’s blocked kick will long be remembered for the Chiefs-Broncos matchup, what’s more pressing for Kansas City is It’s probably their home troubles. Left tackle. Starter Wanya Morris left the game with a knee injury and was replaced by reserve Kingsley Suamataia, but Morris returned and finished the game. Partick Mahomes was sacked four times and dropped back nine more times, so it’s hard to imagine how Andy Reid, Matt Nagy and offensive line coach Andy Heck will fare at one of the most important positions in football. It will be interesting to see how they manage the situation.
Bears OC Shane Waldron out, will Matt Eberflus be next?
How can fate change so much in just three weeks? After three straight wins and a four-touchdown pass performance in London, Caleb Williams appeared to be in the midst of a huge breakthrough in his rookie season. But Chicago was playing Jacksonville and the week before that they were playing Carolina. Now, after losing three straight games, the Bears have fired offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. Can head coach Matt Eberflus turn things around enough to save his job?

This is unpleasant but not unexpected news for the Cowboys and their fans. Prescott, 31, injured his hamstring during Dallas’ 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9, going down late in the third quarter and simply “pulling” his hamstring. He thought it was just that. However, when he tried to put his weight on him on the next play, he could barely walk.
Rush took his place and started for the Cowboys in Week 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles. It was a demoralizing 34-6 loss that caused drama between star linebacker Micah Parsons and head coach Mike McCarthy, who will almost certainly be looking for a new job after the season. .

Bryce Young’s ‘statement’ play against Giants not enough to allay doubts
Despite Bryce Young’s strong play on Sunday, the Panthers don’t seem ready to fully commit to Bryce Young. It’s possible we’ll see more of Andy Dalton before the season ends.
Coach Canales said Bryce Young made a statement with his play Sunday. However, the Panthers are still interested in Andy Dalton and whether he can be an asset next season, and it’s possible he could get another chance at some point. https://t.co/N5bugh2Qo4

Matt Eberflus promises change is coming for the Bears, but the starting QB remains the same.
After Sunday’s embarrassing 19-3 loss to the Patriots, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus told the media on Monday that changes are coming to the team. For real this time! However, we cannot go into details yet as it has not yet been decided what those changes will be.
One thing hasn’t changed: Caleb Williams is the starting quarterback.

What remains of Aaron Rodgers’ legacy?
There are any number of ways to approach what happened to Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets.
We’ll be able to take a microscopic view and tell the series of failures that led to Sunday’s 31-6 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, perhaps the ugliest defeat of Rodgers’ time with the Jets. . Or you could go in a macro direction and recite this 3-7 team’s dismal and still-last-place playoff percentage.
You could also go back even further into the history books and note how similar this is to something like Brett Favre’s dominant single-season run as the Jets’ starting quarterback in 2008. We could…we’d reach the cliff much sooner, except this season has taken a nosedive and been canceled.
This year was a failed season, with an objectively bad team taking full advantage of a soon-to-be 41-year-old quarterback mired in a mediocre middle at his position. Recognizing that opens the door to questions of legacy that will haunt Rodgers for the rest of this lost season.
What’s left?

Matt Eberflus could make play-calling changes
After suffering an embarrassing second straight loss with a 19-3 loss to the league-worst Patriots on Sunday, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said some changes could be in the works. He might even take play-calling duties away from offensive coordinator Shane Waldron.
At this point, anything that opens up the possibility for the Bears to build an offense around QB Caleb Williams is a good thing.
Matt Eberflus said “everything will be considered” to get it right. He didn’t take take play calls off the table from Shane Waldron.
