Week 4 began Thursday night with the Dallas Cowboys continuing their dominance by defeating the New York Giants 20-15.
Giants rookie receiver Malik Nabors suffered a concussion during the game. After attempting a catch on fourth down late in the game, Nabors was briefly taken to the sideline to be tended to by athletic trainers. Shortly thereafter, he too returned to the locker room.
Nabers posted a photo of herself on Instagram early Friday morning with the caption, “It’s okay. Thank you for your prayers.”
Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Friday that Nabers has entered concussion protocol.
In other injury news Thursday night, Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons was helped off the field late in the fourth quarter. He went to the medical tent, took off his left shoe and sock, came out, and was taken on a cart to the locker room.
Cowboys executive vice president and director of player personnel Stephen Jones said Friday that Parsons is being considered on a “week-by-week basis.”
But for defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, Jones said he’s “probably a little longer.”
Packers Love is also active on Sundays.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has been limited in practice, but is expected to be active for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Love said this week that he was “close” to playing in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans, but he ended up not playing. The team is encouraged by his progress and is expected to return after missing two weeks with an MCL injury.
Justin Herbert expected to participate
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is expected to start against the Chiefs barring a pregame setback, according to NFL media. He is officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. Herbert was active heading into Week 3 despite suffering from an ankle sprain, but was ejected early in the loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and put on a walking boot after the game. He showed up. Herbert has had limited practice throughout this week.
Kittle ‘feels great’ about returning in Week 4
The San Francisco 49ers showed a bright spot on Thursday. George Kittle, Brock Purdy, Deebo Samuel and Trent Williams all participated in practice. It was Kittle’s second straight day on the field after missing Week 3’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.
As of Friday, Kittle appeared ready to return for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots.
“I’m very excited to play football,” Kittle said. “I think we’ve had some situations this year, so we’re just trying to cover our ground and be as honest as possible. But no, I feel great.”
Another player who could return to the 49ers this week is Samuel, who missed last week with a calf injury. He is currently listed as a suspect.
“The best athletes seem to heal a little faster,” Lynch says. “The reason he’s on the field is because he hit every marker.”
Lions without Ragnow
The Detroit Lions will get an extra day to recover as they face the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night. But even with more rest, they will be without Pro Bowl center Frank Ragnow, who suffered a partially torn pectoral muscle in Week 3.
Ragnow could have played against the Seahawks, but head coach Dan Campbell said he didn’t want to risk further damage.
“We’re not going to mess it up,” Campbell said. “Look, Frank is tough. He’s tough as nails. If there’s any player that can get through that, it’s him. I think we’ve got to be smart. It’s still early this year. There’s a lot of football left.”
Eagles without Brown, Smith
The Philadelphia Eagles will be without their top two wideouts for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown were both ruled out.
Brown has missed the past two weeks with a hamstring injury, and Smith suffered a concussion in Week 3’s win over the New Orleans Saints.
