NFL coaching news, playoff injury live updates: Jalen Hurts status, Bears hire Lions OC Ben Johnson

Robert Saleh is expected to return later this week to discuss the open job with the Jaguars after his first interview in Jacksonville went well.

The Jaguars are also scheduled to meet with Raiders DC Patrick Graham and Buccaneers OC Liam Cohen this week.

The Cowboys continue to search for Mike McCarthy’s replacement. Frazier, the longtime Bills defensive coordinator, was an assistant with the Seahawks last season.

The Indianapolis Colts have a new defensive coordinator. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Colts are hiring former Bengals DC Lou Anarumo. Anarumo spent the past six seasons with the Bengals, who waived him earlier this month after missing the playoffs.

Brian Schottenheimer’s name hasn’t been mentioned much this head coaching cycle. Tennessee State coach Eddie George made more headlines.

However, the betting market appears to believe that Schottenheimer will be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

Schottenheimer suddenly became the top choice on DraftKings to be the Cowboys’ next head coach. He’s also a heavy favorite at -250 odds (bet $250 to win $100). Kellen Moore, who was the No. 1 favorite, is back at +250 odds.

Schottenheimer has been on the Cowboys’ staff for the past three seasons, serving as offensive coordinator the last two seasons. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has always prioritized familiar coaches, and it’s a good fit.

However, it would be a surprising hire and likely not to be very popular among Cowboys fans.

As Lamar Jackson spoke Sunday night, the Baltimore Ravens quarterback kept clapping his hands as if he were awake, trying to snap out of a bad dream.

“When I tried to squeeze the ball, it slipped”…SMACK…”It slipped out of my hand.”

“We can’t do that tonight because we have turnovers”…smack… “You know what?”

“Grab your fucking balls. Sorry for the bad language… SMACK…” But this is annoying. I’m tired of this shit. ”

It looked like a momentary physical tick born from angry energy. Or disappointment. Perhaps it’s a combination of disbelief and frustration. And it was definitely a good fit. Almost all of those emotions, and maybe all of them, painted an apt picture of the Ravens following their 27-25 loss to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC playoffs. It was just a summing up of the mistakes and missed opportunities in the divisional round.

Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will be in his second interview to become the Saints’ head coach, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver will also have a second interview with New Orleans, according to reporter Mike Triplett.

Kafka first met with the Saints on January 9th, and Weaver met with team officials on January 8th.

With the Lions’ playoff loss, offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn are free to take their offered head coaching positions. Detroit coach Dan Campbell said he expects to lose two coordinators, but has not heard of any hiring.

But Campbell plans to continue doing what has led to the team’s success.

“This train keeps rolling,” he said. “We’ll find the next best player after us.”

There was a sigh of relief in the locker room after the Philadelphia Eagles game.

“Thank God for our defense,” left tackle Jordan Mailata said when asked about the win.

“A big part of why we’re celebrating here right now is because of that defense,” wide receiver DeVonta Smith added from another section of the Cubby.

Even running back Saquon Barkley, who just finished with 232 scrimmage yards and was part of an offense that didn’t reach the end zone for more than 41 minutes midway through the game, joined the chorus.

“Man, our defense is special and makes plays for us,” said Barkley, who rushed for a franchise playoff record 205 yards. “We’re going to go back and look at what we can improve offensively.”

In some ways, the concerns surrounding Philadelphia’s offensive line felt dramatic. The Eagles just won their 16th game of the season, including the playoffs, defeating the Los Angeles Rams 28-22 and will now host the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game.
