I’m always on the lookout for a high-end sandwich place, and this is definitely it.
There are times in life when you want a good sandwich and have to rely on what’s around us. I’ve started relying less on corporate chains and more on independent businesses for my food choices.
The website Delish just released a list of the best sandwich shops in each state, and the winner in Connecticut is a local staple serving New England-inspired fare. The sandwich shop is called The Dilly Duck Shop, and it’s located in Norwalk.
I had never heard of it personally, but it may be a local and even statewide favorite. We took a peek inside the restaurant. The Dilly Duck Shop has been open since 2017. They offer homemade rotisserie roasted meats, fresh salads, soups, baked desserts, and more, all made by hand in their kitchen, which is inspired by New England crafts and cuisine.
The menu offers a variety of breakfast sandwiches, regular sandwiches, salads, soups, entrees, pastas, etc. Since it was featured as a best sandwich shop, I decided to see if they had any truly unique sandwiches on the menu.
The sandwich menu isn’t extensive, but they all look pretty tasty: roast beef, roast pork, pesto chicken, salmon, tuna, caprese, and more. A visit to their Instagram page revealed that they also have a ton of specials that run periodically. (As an aside, whoever runs Instagram deserves a pay raise.)
It’s nice to look at lists like this because you get to discover brand new places you’ve never heard of before. If you’re planning on visiting The Dilly Duck Shop, they’re located at 666 Main Ave in Norwalk and are open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

I was born in the Brass City and currently live in Bollington, also known as Waterbury or Torrington. I think both nicknames are fitting, but some cities and towns in Connecticut do it better and some fail miserably. Here are the best and worst nicknames adopted by cities and towns in Connecticut.
