The preseason NASCAR clash will be held Feb. 2 at historic Bowman Gray Stadium, a quarter-mile track within the stadium that also serves as the home of Winston-Salem (N.C.) State University football.
The track, made famous by the historic documentary series “Madhouse,” will host a preseason exhibition race for the first time since 1971. The track, which hosted Cup events from 1958 to 1971, still hosts weekly races during the summer and is home to NASCAR regional and modified races.
The facility is owned by the city of Winston-Salem, and NASCAR took over promotional rights to race there this year.
“Bowman Gray Stadium has a rich motorsports history, and we look forward to bringing the Cup Series back to this esteemed race track for the first time since 1971,” NASCAR Executive Vice President Ben Kennedy said in a statement.
The race, which has yet to be announced with a start time or format, will air on FOX on the Sunday two weeks before the Daytona 500. FOX and NASCAR will collaborate on an hour-long documentary about the return of Cup racing to tracks.
For the past three years, the Clash has been held on a temporary track constructed inside the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
NASCAR has not released its complete schedule for 2025.
