If aliens are looking for signs of intelligent life, they may want to look elsewhere.
This week, an apparent UFO was captured hovering over Parliament House, sparking fears that extraterrestrials may soon be plotting a coup.
The snapshot, which shows four bright lights eerily set just a few feet above the Statue of Liberty atop the Capitol dome, was reportedly taken by U.S. Air Force veteran and certified tour guide Dennis Diggins. It is being
Another video taken from a distance appears to confirm this phenomenon. The same four twinkling lights moved from the square to a line, but remained above the government building.
The photo immediately caused panic on social media. The uproar was further fueled by the fact that the sighting came just weeks after Congress held hearings detailing an alleged secret government program that described an “alien” spacecraft.
“It’s already happening,” one user wrote.
“This is insane!” wrote another.
While many were worried, some rushed to debunk the UFO sightings. At least one expert theorized that the phenomenon was simply a reflection of the night sky.
“For decades, the lighting of the Capitol building has been causing ‘UFO sightings’ into camera lenses,” researcher and ufologist John Greenwald Jr. told X.
“(It’s just a lens flare, but interesting people are passing it around. And even more interesting people are buying it. New photo, same lens flare ‘phenomenon’.)”
The UFO sightings came after the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives heard from witnesses about the recovery program’s alleged covert captures, communications with non-human intelligence agencies, and government threats against whistleblowers.
The hearing came after the Pentagon released a report in March that found no evidence of extraterrestrial spacecraft.
