The capabilities of this product were confirmed through rigorous testing on samples grown at a large facility at Mycoworks in South Carolina, demonstrating its competitiveness with traditional leather with several key performance metrics.
The comprehensive testing regimen highlighted the exceptional strength, resilience, and overall quality of the fine mycelium materials Mycoworks produces.
An independent assessment conducted by CTC Groupe on February 14th revealed that Reishi, which was handled in its own Rei-Tanning process, exceeded most standards across five key performance categories.
In the Bally Flex Resistance category, which measures flexibility and wrinkle endurance, Reishi withstands up to 20,000 cycles and showed up to 25,600 cycles in Martindale’s Abrasion Resistance (Surface Wear Evaluation) test.
This material was successfully subjected to 200 cycles in a dyeability test and was evaluated for resistance to pigment transfer. It also passed the aging test, which simulated the conditions at 50°C and 90% relative humidity.
Finish adhesion to test the bond strength of the finish was achieved with a material of 0.5n/mm.
Additionally, MyCoworks’ leading collaborator, Ligne Roset, has conducted his own rigorous assessments within the internal lab. These tests are known for their high demands exceeding the general industry standards of furniture.
In particular, Reishi excels in Martindale wear resistance tests with impressive durability of up to 50,000 cycles, and simulated sitting tests designed to mimic stresses of 100kg of individuals over 25,000 cycles. I endured it.
MyCoworks’ Rei-Tanning technology was developed jointly by experts from the San Francisco-based innovation center and Igalada’s Spanish tanning factory.
This unique process significantly improves the consistency of reishi sheets and promotes use in luxury goods that require complex construction techniques such as “stitch and turn” and edge applications.
Rei-Tanning includes treatments that span reishi sheets with desirable properties such as plumpness, softness, durability and resistance to water and other elements.
Mycoworks Fine Mycelium Material is said to have attracted attention for its partnerships with elite brands such as Hermes, GM and Ligne Roset, as well as with well-known fashion entities. This is due to the excellent properties of the material, which have been reinforced through collaboration with Spanish skin skin.
This FINE Mycelium product is now available directly to customers for purchase through MyCoworks’ newly launched e-commerce platform.
