Greenwich police believe members of a group with ties to a transnational criminal organization are invading luxury homes in the city.
Greenwich Police say a group that is part of a transnational criminal organization known to law enforcement as the “South American Theft Group” is suspected of committing several recent robberies.
Police said they targeted expensive homes in the tri-state area that were vacant or appeared to be vacant.
Greenwich police are cooperating with New York law enforcement authorities.
They said New York authorities had arrested several members of a “South American theft ring” and believed some of the suspects were involved in the robbery in Greenwich.
Greenwich police are continuing to investigate and are reminding residents to take precautions when they are not home, including using alarm systems, outdoor motion lights, timed lighting and turning on televisions indoors. . It also recommends that mail, newspapers, and other packages not be left outdoors.
