Ozilak saved his best performance in the season finale against Pittsburgh. According to PFF, he was often working to reach quarterback Nate Yanell via double teams, creating a total of 14 pressure. He ran six bags (the best season) six times.
Ezeiruaku finished with a total of 60 pressure and 42 run stops, both being second to the edge defenders.
“He quickly misses the snaps and uses bend and agility to win at the top of the rush or stop in the backfield,” wrote NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein.
The commander was able to use players who knew how to stand up the run and pass the roster in 2025. Last year, in 2024, the production of sacks was 43 and was in good condition. It was most prominent when the Philadelphia Eagles ran for 229 yards in the NFC Championship, but defensive performances were tedious all season.
And Ezellak didn’t provide a complete solution to Washington’s defensive problems. He likes to cut under offensive tackles, which results in him losing containment and able to provide a quarterback escape route. He finds a way around his size, but it is clear that it sometimes interferes with him in the run game.
The good news is that Ozilak, especially as a newcomer, doesn’t have to protect the burden of being Washington’s only solution. The staff provided tips for finding players doing well and putting them in the best scenarios to succeed. For Ozilak, it surrounds the edge and gets a quarterback on the ground.
“Oziruk’s dramatic attitude, skills and athletic talent are the foundation of a productive starter worthy of three downs,” writes Zierlein.
