KAPOLEI, Hawaii (Island News) — Stars of “Moana 2” hit the blue carpet for the animated film’s world premiere at Disney’s Aulani Resort.
Many cast, crew and special guests are excited about this new sequel and the Polynesian representation it will share on the silver screen.
Island News was able to speak with several people at the premiere of Ko Olina, including Auli’i Cravalho, who provided the voice of the film’s heroine.
“If the previous film connected us to the past, this film connects us to the future. And Moana is looking for more people. This is truly a Pacific-wide connection, and it connects us to the future. It’s a source of pride and celebration because it’s beautiful. Our cast members, including myself, are from Hawaii, but we also have members from New Zealand, Samoa, Tonga, and Fiji. “Our ancestors, who were the world’s greatest wayfinders, have been revived here in Hawaii by the Polynesian Voyaging Society.
