CORAL GABLES, Fla. – It has become a natural habit.
The University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame & Museum earlier this week announced the 2025 class of inductees for the 55th UM Sports Hall of Fame & Museum Hall of Fame Induction Banquet to be held next spring on Tuesday.
Silver Creek resident Cindy Kessler Miller (1975-78) is among that group.
Miller began his career as a walk-on in 1975 and earned scholarship eligibility in 1976. He helped the Canes win national championships in 1977 and 1978 and was named an All-American in his senior campaign in 1978. He also served as team captain. After a brief career on the LPGA Tour, Miller, who is inducted into numerous other halls of fame, including the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame, established himself as one of golf’s greatest golf teachers and LPGA Professional. He will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He rose to prominence as a member of the Class of 2024.
Class of 2025 includes Vicki Alonzo (soccer), Mark Cooper (soccer), Kevin Howard (baseball), Jerome McDougle (soccer), Brian Ramos (diving), Darius Rice (basketball), Krista Rice Simkins (track and field) joins Miller. ).
“On behalf of the UM Sports Hall of Fame & Museum, I am very pleased to announce the 2025 Hall of Fame Inductees, comprised of UM athletes from seven different sports.” UMSHoF&M Chairman Mike Ward said: “We will celebrate this diverse class and showcase their outstanding accomplishments from their Miami careers at our Spring 2025 Commencement Gala.”
This year’s class will be officially introduced during an on-field ceremony at the Miami vs. Duke football game on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Hard Rock Stadium. “Hall of Fame Game” ritual.
