Sunbury, Pennsylvania — A McDonald’s restaurant on North Fourth Street in Sunbury is scheduled to open this week, officials said.
Monday, Nov. 25, is the opening day for the fast food restaurant, according to City Administrator Derrick Bakker.
Sunbury City Council had approved final plans for the restaurant at its June 10 meeting. Later that month, contractors broke ground on a site near 1183 North Fourth Street. The restaurant is located next to the Sherwin-Williams Paint store in front of North Fourth Street Plaza.
McDonald’s first presented its plans to the city in April 2023. A small portion of the land is part of Upper Augusta Township, whose officials also reviewed and approved the plan.
At this time, the only fast food restaurants in Sunbury are the Burger King on the other side of North Fourth Street and the Dunkin’ in the North Fourth Street Plaza. Other McDonald’s locations in the area include one in Shamokin Dam and one in Milton.
