US Rep. Lori Trahan (D-Mass.) said this week he tore Republican colleagues apart and politicized the controversial issue of trans athletes competing with girls and women.
The Inter-Massachusetts Association of Governance Movements will continue to allow trans-athletes to compete with biological women, despite President Donald Trump’s recent executive order for them to do so. It is one of at least three state athletic groups that say they allow it.
This has led to Trump’s Department of Education launching the Title IX probe for the Massachusetts, Minnesota and California Athletic Federations.
“Are we going to say no to those trans kids? You can’t be part of the team, you learn friendship, become part of your community, feel a sense of belonging? ? It’s just cruel,” Trahan said, via the Boston Grove.

She said she hasn’t heard much of the protest from her parents in her state, and added that she believes the issue should reach individual sports bodies rather than politicians.
“They are experts. They are dedicated to their sport and create fair and responsible rules for participation. Many of them have already implemented changes to ensure fairness and safety. I will,” she said.
“I think that’s where we should make decisions, but it doesn’t stop Republican colleagues from weaponizing this issue, and there will be many outcomes as a result.”

The NCAA recently banned trans athletes from competing with women, despite President Charlie Baker saying in December he knew less than 10 trans athletes from the association. did.
“You can’t ignore (NCAA) data,” Trahan said. We have set such a dangerous story in our country about denialing the existence of trans people.
“There’s a lot of creep there, so now someone can blame a girl who doesn’t look feminine. Trahan added. “How she proves (her gender) Should it be? It’s poor policy making. It’s the worst politics.”
