ROSEAU, Minn. – The Magicians defeated Lake of the Woods 10-2 in their first game on the road in Minnesota, scoring three goals in the first period, five in the second and one in the third. Fixed stiffness during expedition. .
Minot High School first got on the scoreboard in the first quarter when Finley Bentz scored an even goal at 8:15 off an assist from Teagan Strand. Less than 15 seconds later, Hudson Cope scored another unassisted goal to take a 2-0 lead. Cohen Schmeichel scored his third goal along with Oliver Thompson at 10:59, and Easton Panascu had an assist for a 3-0 lead.
Panascu opened the scoring at 2:03 of the second period with assists from Schmeichel and McCree Morelli. Just over a minute later, Strand scored his second goal on assists from Rylan Loteljuk and Bentz for a 5-0 lead.
Aidan Diehl scored a power-play goal at 4:55, with an assist from Morelli. Michael Elle then scored on a short-handed shot at 9:48, with an assist from Cope for a 7-0 lead. Just a minute later, Lake of the Woods found the back of the net at 10:59, with Panask scoring No. 8 and taking an 8-1 lead with assists from Loteriuk and Morelli.
Carter Coleman scored his ninth goal of the game, with assists from Deal and Oliver Thompson at the 9:26 mark of the third period. Lake of the Woods got its second and final score at 13:12. Morelli put the puck in the net for the final score of the game at 15:59, with assists from Loteljuk and Panask.
Minot High School had 53 shots on goal compared to Lake of the Woods High School’s five. Minot High School received one penalty in the first game, two penalties in the second and one more in the third. Lake of the Woods totaled two in the second period and one in the third.
Devon Keller guarded the net for the Magicians, making three saves on five shots on goal.
Minot High School will host the Roseau Skaters today, Dec. 28, and host Robbinsdale Armstrong tomorrow, Dec. 28, to conclude a three-game series in Minnesota.
