Surrounded by nature, Verdelago Resort has brought offers that previously did not exist in the eastern Algarve region. With exclusive access to the beach from the suspended corridor, the five-star resort has its Genesis book of Genesis, a tourism village that has emerged from a tourist property project focusing on sustainable, informal luxury, and reads a press release sent to the newsroom.
“We are extremely pleased and proud to receive the Green Glove certification, which will enhance the implementation of our Sustainability strategy and deliver the long process already launched in 2020,” said Paulo Monteiro, development director at Verdelago Resort.
With an area of over 80 hectares, Verdelago Resort is a low density construction project, with only 9% of facilities dedicated to accommodation and recreational infrastructure. All of this is completely close to nature. Guests can stroll along previous existing trails, walk to the coast, enjoy the local beaches, or enjoy massages and yoga sessions in the middle of Pine Forest.
“This commitment to sustainability is based on a high level of development, based on the concept of simple, uncompromising luxury that exists from project concessions through every stage, construction, marketing and tourist operation, and is based on the concept of simple, uncompromising luxury that values human and place, experience, and the most authentic value,” reinforces Paulo Monteiro.
The materials used, the colour of the apartment, the construction of solar plants, the preservation of the surrounding nature and hundreds of trees, and the state-of-the-art irrigation or centralized technical management (GTC) systems are some examples of how environmental interest was considered from the start.
In line with these sustainability examples, Verdelago makes its involvement in the community and its business very important. Approximately 50% of the suppliers are local businesses, with local and artisan products sold in small markets available at resorts. Additionally, guests will receive information about a variety of local experiences that they can try, including visiting traditional cork mills and salt pans, wine tasting at wineries, and solar boat trips via the incredible RIA Formosa.
“We will continue our efforts and strategies to become increasingly ‘green’, as our name suggests, and will strengthen our positioning as a sophisticated, luxurious and sustainable development, enhancing the positive impact on the entire community where it was inserted,” stresses the development director at Verdelago Resort.
