Hello AJ readers!
In this week’s Business News highlights, we introduce you to the (non-dancing) lobster, get rave reviews from Texas taco experts, and learn why a Cactus Alley favorite needs to find a new space. Let’s dig deeper.
Earlier this week, Texas Monthly published its Top 50 Best Tacos in Texas report. On that list was one of my favorite restaurants, Jimenez Tortilleria y Taqueria, located at 4606 34th St. Our taco editor highlighted Three Amigos’ taco plate.
“It’s a huge honor to be on this Top 50 Tacos list and we can’t wait to see all these amazing taco shops develop. Big congratulations to everyone who made it to the Top 50 Tacos list,” the company said. said on social media. “Our number one mission for our shop is to bring out the best products we can produce. This is a true testament to all of our hard work from 4 a.m. until we leave at 11 p.m. It’s proof.”

I also want to mention that MTZ Taqueria Food Truck in Amarillo also made the list for its amazing birria. As Taco editor José R. Ralat explains, it certainly seems worth the drive.
“The birria here uses sirloin so tender that it shreds when the cook lifts it out of the steaming broth,” Larratt said in the article. “The rest of the juice is used to soak the tortillas. The tacos are grilled to a crispy texture, and the meat is served with milky Oaxaca-style quecillo. The melted cheese adds a mouthwatering touch.”

Cousins Maine Lobster Food Truck is opening in Lubbock, and a grand opening celebration was held Saturday. The release names Chris Wilson and Gary Andrews, who operate six Slim Chicken locations, as Lubbock franchisees.
“As a lifelong restaurateur, I know it’s a great brand when I see it,” Wilson said. “My first experience with Cousins Maine Lobster was when I saw a line of people excited and eager to try it. We are excited to be part of the CML family and share this great product and experience. We couldn’t be more proud to serve the West Texas community.” ”

Mano Negra Brewing Company, 2610 Salem Ave., will be leaving its Cactus Alley home in less than two months after five years in business. Owners say this was an unexpected decision from Alley’s new owners, who notified Mano Negra last weekend.
“While we are heartbroken to leave this location, we are committed to finding a new home where we can continue to build the same strong sense of community and craftsmanship,” said Daniel Badillo of Mano Negra. Ta. “Wherever we go, our goal is to create a space in Lubbock that welcomes people of all backgrounds, especially those who have never truly found a place for themselves.”
Mano Negra has started a GoFundMe and plans to create a Kickstarter to raise money. These funds will be used to find and prepare new spaces, along with supporting families in transition.
