Hello AJ Leader!
For three months in 2025, Lubbock has already seen some shakeups in the business community. This week brought us a review of the developments in February and the characteristics of the woman who created her name in the Landman business.
February is a relatively slow month for business updates, with AJ reporting on six notable developments over the course of a month. However, the closure of Cinemark Southwest Lubbock Movies 16 and XD, 5721 58th St., and the closure of Mexican Grill and Cantina, 6709 Slide Road, resulted in unexpected losses.
I spoke with Kathy Robertson, Senior Vice President and Manager of the Oil & Gas Real Estate Business at Plainscapital Bank about his nearly 20 years of career as Landman. Robertson told me about his business trip. This helps people understand their mineral rights and more. She also offered advice to anyone looking to enter a career path.
“I went in and fell in love with it,” Robertson said. “It was a bit of a coincidence. It’s one of those things that you’re in the right place at the right time.”
I have some messages for businesses regarding grocery store duties, future locations, and tariffs on rumoured new businesses. There’s nothing in the book yet, but I hope that contacts will come back to me in time for the next weekend edition.
As always, thank you for reading and supporting AJ.
