Construction of Belmont Park Village, Long Island’s newest luxury shopping destination, is nearing the finish line.
Scheduled to be completed by the end of this month, the winding 340,000 square foot outdoor complex, which LIBN toured last week, debuted with a rolling opening that began last month, offering an experience and a look ahead.
Billed as an experiential retail destination, Belmont Park Village will eventually feature 155 boutiques and seven restaurants, as well as kiosks and an outdoor cafe. The complex will create 1,500 full-time jobs, including retail, food and beverage staff and administrative staff.
Essentially a luxury outlet centre, the village is home to international fashion and lifestyle brands, offering a mix of previous seasons’ collections. The tenant roster includes notable names such as Thom Browne, Rene Caovilla, Aquazzura, Missoni, Palm Angels, Reigns, Orlebar Brown, and Vivienne Westwood, all of whom are opening America’s first off-price boutique. Belmont Park Village is the Bicester Collection’s 12th retail village and the first built in the United States. Bicester Collection is a global group of luxury shopping villages operated by Value Retail Management, owned by New York Islanders co-owner Scott Malkin. . Started in 1995 with the first village in Bicester, England, the collection now has nine shopping villages in Europe, two in China and now one in Elmont. The collection also includes Seabird Ocean Resort & Spa and Mission Pacific Beach Resort in Oceanside, California.
The Bicester Collection’s newest village is part of a $1.3 billion development on 43 acres of Belmont Park property leased from New York State, with UBS Arena on the north side of the Hempstead Turnpike and a six-story parking garage on the south side. It started with the construction of a parking lot. It will serve as both an arena and a new shopping facility. The plan also included a 250-key hotel that has yet to be built. Construction on Belmont Park Village is expected to be completed this month, but new tenants are expected to open in the coming months. Construction of Belmont Park Village was led by Ronkonkoma-based Aurora Contractors, with support from several Long Island companies and subcontractors.
