Following two safety meetings on Sunday morning, Liverpool issued a statement ahead of Sunday’s big clash with Manchester United, saying the game “will proceed as scheduled”.
Premier League leaders also urged fans attending the match at Anfield to take extreme care, adding: “We would like to thank everyone involved in helping to organize this match.”

Weather warnings were issued for most parts of England on Saturday evening and Sunday morning as heavy snow and ice conditions particularly affected Liverpool and Manchester.
Both Liverpool and Manchester airports were closed on Sunday morning due to weather conditions, and travel to and from the region remains difficult. However, with rain forecast to fall in the area several hours before kick-off, it was decided that the match would go ahead as scheduled.
