Donald Trump and Kamala Harris remain virtually tied in seven key battleground states, according to the latest Washington Post/Schar School poll.
Harris also holds narrow leads in Wisconsin, Michigan, the blue wall states of Pennsylvania and Georgia. Trump leads in Arizona and North Carolina, but is tied in Nevada.
President Trump visits Swannanoa, North Carolina, which was devastated by flooding from Hurricane Helen, and reiterates baseless conspiracy theories that Federal Emergency Management Agency funds were being sent to “illegal immigrants” instead. Ta. He later repeated the accusation at a rally in Greenville, calling Harris a “cognitive mess.”
Harris toured suburban districts in three states on Monday with former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, hoping to encourage Republican voters dissatisfied with Trump to vote for Democrats instead. He could sway the election.
Cheney, who has opposed abortion in the past and praised the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, said that even though she opposes abortion, she believes women are not getting the care they need and this situation must change. He insisted it was okay to vote for Harris.

Olivia Nuzzi leaves New York Magazine over affair allegations with RFK Jr.
Prominent political reporter Olivia Nuzzi has parted ways with New York Magazine over allegations of sexting with Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Nuzzi, 31, was placed on leave in September after editors learned of an undisclosed “personal relationship” with the carrion-eating heir, which the magazine called a “breach of reader trust.”
The magazine now says it has agreed to a mutual separation from Nuzzi, but both internal and external investigations have found no evidence that her relationship with RFK Jr. led to bias or inaccuracies in her reporting. Couldn’t find it.

those who are not with me are against me
There are sights here that you don’t see every day. It is a crowd at a political rally chanting the name of Jesus Christ at a political candidate.
That candidate, of course, is Donald Trump, who is campaigning tonight in Greenville, North Carolina.
“In our movement, we love Christians, we welcome believers, we embrace followers of Jesus,” Trump said in a video posted online by journalist Asin Torabi.
The crowd cheered, and then a chorus of “Yes, yes, yes!” broke out.

President Trump’s plan would “empty the Social Security fund three years early”
Donald Trump’s proposed agenda could deplete America’s Social Security surplus three years sooner than currently expected, my colleague Gustav Kilander reports.
The Social Security Trust Fund is a $2.8 trillion reserve held by the U.S. government that increases or decreases each year depending on whether tax revenues exceed or fall short of Social Security spending.
The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (CRFB), a nonpartisan think tank that opposes large government deficits, predicts that this reserve will be depleted within nine years if nothing changes.
But the CRFB warned Monday that President Trump’s plan to cut taxes, impose tariffs on foreign goods and potentially deport millions of people will deplete the fund three years earlier than planned.

Is Elon Musk breaking the law with his $1 million donation?
Tesla and SpaceX boss Elon Musk is currently promising $1 million in daily prizes to registered voters in seven battleground states who sign a petition created by a pro-Trump PAC.
However, under U.S. federal law, paying, offering, or accepting payments to register or vote is illegal and punishable by up to five years in prison.
So does Mr. Musk’s gift violate that law? My colleague Alex Woodward asked experts, and at least one of them believes the answer is yes.

Trump faces new defamation lawsuit as ‘Central Park Five’ files suit
At the time, the real estate mogul bought a full-page ad in a major newspaper with the headline “Bring Back the Death Penalty.”
The wrongful convictions of the so-called “Central Park Five” were vacated in 2002, and the city paid $41 million to settle the civil rights lawsuit in 2014.
President Trump has not only refused to retract or apologize for these statements, but also falsely claimed that the men had admitted guilt and implied that they “ended up killing people.”
Alex Woodward tells us more.
