Trump is now talking about another major topic of the week: the Russian war in Ukraine.
We’re dealing with President Zelensky and with Putin, Trump tells the crowd.
He was attacked by the “silly and incompetent” President Joe Biden for involving the United States so heavily involving Ukraine’s defense against Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.
Europe should donate more money to support Ukraine than the US, Trump said.
We should get the money he said. “That’s not just fair.”
He says to end the war, “I think we’re closer to a deal.”
If I were president, he says, “it would never have happened.”
“We’re working on that,” he says. “We’re in the middle of negotiations, so I don’t like to talk about it.”
US officials met Russian officials without Ukrainians – in Saudi Arabia, they have recently been in Saudi Arabia to begin peace talks. The meeting came when Zelensky and Trump traded barbs and Trump called Zelensky “dictator.”
