CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – The Make-A-Wish Foundation announced it will honor Live 5 News sports anchor and reporter Summer Huchtker among a group of women for their roles in the community.
Mr. Huchtker, who was also named Sportscaster of the Year by the Charleston City Paper, joins WISH recipients Ashley Daly, Erin Diehl, Ashley Jackson, Sarah Kasuf, Stephanie Postel, Linda Ryan, Joining Grace Swink and Juliet Walker. . WISH stands for Women Who Bring Strength and Hope.
“I am so excited to follow in the footsteps of the inspiring women at Live 5 and become a Wish Ambassador,” says Hüchtker. “Last year I had the pleasure of participating in the WISH event and it inspired me to help make wishes come true for children in the Lowcountry. I can’t wait to get started.”
The women’s group’s kickoff was held Thursday night at Sechey in downtown Charleston.
Live 5 evening anchor Mikal Higdon was a WISH award winner three years ago, Live 5 morning anchor Katie Kamin was an award winner two years ago, and Palmetto Life host Emily Zuhowski was last year’s award winner. It was. They are excited to continue the tradition of the Live 5 family.

As the recipient of the award, Hüchtker has pledged to raise at least $7,500 to help grant children’s wishes in South Carolina.

The Make-A-Wish South Carolina chapter fulfilled its first wish on November 10, 1984, helping a 5-year-old boy battling brain cancer get home to attend “an important football game.” did. Game at the Citadel.
