Lisbon – The Liberty Girls basketball team must play all games at noon.
The Leopard won the first victory of the season, holding back Lisbon (39-35). “Noon Hoop” Wednesday’s game.
Mia Benjamin scored nine of Liberty’s 17 points in the first quarter. Danelle Coleman contributed 12 points and Armani Franklin Eight.
The leopard improves to 1-18, while the blue demon becomes 6-15.
Lylah Brown broke through Lisbon with 13 points, including all six points in the Blue Devils in the second quarter. Bridgett Newbold and Eme Cook added 8 points.
Liberty took a 15-7 lead in the first quarter, leading 17-13 at halftime.
The Leopard expanded the margin to 35-25, with the game at 5:57 left, at 5:57, but managed only four points for the rest.
Jaden Smith’s theft and layup trimmed Lisbon’s deficit to 35-32 with 3:48 left.
Liberty fought back with a 3-pointer at the 3:00 mark, but Brown steals and lays up to move the Blue Devils within 38-34 within 67 seconds.
Newbold had a free throw with 27 seconds left, and Liberty closed the score with a free throw with a 24-second mark.

Hannoverton – Four Lisbon players scored in double digits as the Blue Devils bounced back United 62-34 on Wednesday’s play at the Ohio Athletic Conference.
AJ Ramgeet led the charge with game-high 18 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Blaine Burns has collected 17 points, 12 Aidan Ramgeet and 10 Luke Craft and 3 steals. Tim Brandon grabbed eight rebounds.
Lisbon improved overall to 10-8 and 7-5 in the EOAC, finishing third behind Valley Christian and Columbiana.
United fell 4-14 and 2-9 in league play.
Ten players scored at United, while Wyatt Blevins scored eight and Trent Ellison Seven.
United won the junior varsity game, 60-22. Kota Shasteen scored 18 points and Matthew Hoopes 15 for the Eagles. Logan Sturgeon scored six points for the Blue Devils.
Both teams will return to league play on Friday as Lithonia and United entertain Wellsville.
