For the sixth time in his remarkable 17-year tenure, director Brian Vogel brought the Wildcats back to Big Dance. This season, his team put together a 23-7 record, marking the first time the Wildcats have reached 23 Win Plateau since 2013.
But the Wildcats’ postseason surge is more than just a one-team show. On the men’s side, interim head coach Kevin Meador wasted time in his debut season, leading his team to an impressive 24-6 record and leading them to the runner-up in the CCAA Championship, where they fought hard.
Now it’s winning or it’s time to stay home. The women’s team is headed for a high stakes battle with Calpolipomona on March 14th at 2:30pm. The victory punches tickets for the next round, where they assume the winner of Point Roma vs. Central Washington.
Meanwhile, the man is stepping into his legacy moment. The Wildcats, who have made their 17th appearance in the Western Region since 1958, are no postseason strangers, but this is a milestone for manager Medor. It’s the first taste of March Madness as a team leader. Chico is scheduled to lock Central Washington and Horn in a must-see showdown at 2:30pm on Saturday.
The stage is set. The stakes are high. And if history tells us anything, these Wildcats won’t retreat from that moment on.
