The Rolla Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting to celebrate Small Business Saturday on Nov. 18, which included the reading of an official proclamation by Mayor Lou Magditz.
The annual national campaign, held the Saturday after Thanksgiving, highlights the important role small businesses play in our communities and economy.
Small businesses are the heart of the U.S. economy, making up 99.9% of all businesses with employees. Over the past 20 years, they have created 55% of net new jobs and currently employ 45.9% of the private sector workforce.
Here in Rolla, small businesses are the cornerstone of our local economy. In 2024 alone, the city issued 1,304 business licenses, 733 of which were within city limits. Together, these businesses provide an estimated 1,750 private sector jobs, fostering growth and improving the quality of life for everyone in our community.
Join us at Small Business on Saturday, November 30th to shop local, show your support, and celebrate the businesses that keep Laura thriving.
