PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A kitten was rescued by Pittsburgh-area firefighters after it became stuck between the engine compartment and a hard surface.
The Pleasant Hills Fire Department shared the story on Facebook of how they rescued a kitten that had been trapped under the hood of a car parked at a shopping center.
Firefighters said they were called to Southland Shopping Centre at around 7pm on Thursday following a report of two kittens trapped in the engine compartment of a car.
Firefighters were able to use a recently purchased Milwaukee Tools inspection camera to check the hard-to-see area. After an “exhaustive search,” firefighters said the kitten was rescued. The second kitten was never found.

The fire department shared a photo of the fluffy white kitten, who looked a little disheveled but otherwise safe.
“Great job to all crews on scene!” the fire department wrote.
This isn’t the first time a kitten has been found under the hood of a car in the Pittsburgh area. Last year, a man said he was driving from Belle Vernon when he heard a strange noise coming from his car’s engine. He pulled into a GetGo in Brentwood, where a rescue operation began.
