Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant has put the Knicks on the deal that would have sent him to the Golden State Warriors at the trade deadline earlier this month, and he has revealed the reason for his decision.
While talking to ESPN’s Malika Andrews in the NBA today, Durant said in a comment from Warriors head coach Steve Kerr that he didn’t want to return to Golden State due to criticism he faced three seasons in the franchise from 2016 to 2019. I spoke.
“People are always crazy about me. That’s not why I didn’t want to come back, I just didn’t want to be traded mid-season,” Durant explained. “I had nothing for my time with the Warriors, or I’ve heard it was because I don’t like Draymond (green). At the end of the day, I didn’t want to move. Phoenix’s With my team, we’re looking at what we can do for the rest of the season.
The Suns were unable to live up to expectations this season and ranked 11th in the Western Conference with a 26-28 record. Phoenix made no major additions through the trade market that helped teams compete for playoff spots.
Durant was able to halt trade at a deadline, but he is reportedly expected to be a trade candidate this summer. Durant also tackled these rumors and postponed them to the Sons organization, but admitted that he knew it was part of the business.
“You have to ask the front office about it. I wasn’t going to leave, I didn’t ask for a deal from Phoenix,” Durant told Andrews. “But obviously, when you pay a lot of money to the team and we’re not playing to our expectations, someone has to go.”
