Indiana University’s online programs once again received high marks in U.S. News and World Report’s 2025 Best Online Programs rankings, with multiple programs in business, education, and psychology ranked in the top five in the nation.

IU Kelley School of Business’s online MBA program, Kelley Direct, has been ranked No. 1 in the nation for four years in a row, ranking in the top five in all five specializations.
Bloomington’s IU Graduate School of Education’s online master’s degree has jumped to No. 20 in the nation, including rankings in the top 10 in all four majors.
Additionally, IU Online’s online bachelor’s degree was ranked #1 in Indiana and #19 in the nation.
“This year’s rankings are yet another testament to the quality of IU’s faculty and innovative approach to online education,” said IU President Pamela Whitten. “These high-quality programs prepare students to excel in their fields through a platform that opens university doors to even more people seeking a top-ranked education.”
Kelley Direct was named this year’s top-rated online MBA program for veterans.
The other four specializations that received the highest scores nationally at the IU Kelley School of Business are:
General Management, No. 1. Business and Analysis, No. 2. Marketing, No. 2. Finance, No. 4.
This is also the sixth year in a row that these four specialties have ranked in the top five, which is every year since U.S. News began ranking them within online MBA programs.
The IU Graduate School of Education in Bloomington has four majors ranked in the top 10 nationally:
Curriculum and Instruction, Part 2. Educational/Instructional Media Design, Part 3. Educational Management and Supervision, Part 5. Special Education, Part 7.
All of these specialties were also ranked in the top 10 last year. In 2020, US News began ranking specializations within online master’s degree programs in education.
In addition to ranking 19th overall, IU’s online bachelor’s degree program earned superior ratings in several subject areas.
The online bachelor’s degree in psychology offered through IU East’s Department of Psychology was ranked No. 6. IU’s online bachelor’s degree in business administration, a joint program offered by five regional campuses, ranked No. 8.

IU’s online program also ranked 29th in bachelor’s degrees for veterans. This ranking is based in part on the number of enrolled students who declare themselves as veterans or active military.
This year’s ranking evaluated more than 1,600 online bachelor’s and master’s programs using metrics specific to online learning. This ranking includes only degree-granting programs offered primarily online by regionally accredited institutions.
This is the 13th year that U.S. News has ranked online bachelor’s degree programs.
