Kayvon Thibodeau named to CBS Sports All-Under 25 team
CBS Sports recently compiled an All-Under 25 team for defensive ends.
Appearing on the second team among edge rushers was Giants outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeau.
As a rookie, Thibodeau recorded four sacks and six tackles for loss in 14 games and finished fourth in Rookie Defensive Player of the Year voting.
The outside linebacker then took huge strides in 2023, playing in all 17 games and recording 11.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and four passes defensed.
The 23-year-old has performed well this summer, getting into the backfield and pressuring the quarterback almost daily.
“He’s had a good camp,” head coach Brian Daboll told the media on Tuesday morning. “I think his pass rush has evolved. I think he’s practicing at a good tempo, good speed. You can see him out there on the floor. Everything that we’ve asked of him, he’s done it pretty consistently. I’m happy with Kayvon.”
Thibodeau will now be lining up opposite Brian Barnes, who had eight sacks, 16 tackles for loss, 18 quarterback hits, one forced fumble and two passes defended in 16 games last season.
According to Pro Football Focus, the trio of Thibodeau, Barnes and Dexter Lawrence, all under the age of 27 entering this season, recorded a combined 148 quarterback pressures last season.
Detroit Lions’ dominant Aidan Hutchinson and Houston Texans’ dominant Will Anderson Jr. were named to the CBS Sports first team, while Buffalo Bills’ dominant Greg Rousseau was named to the second team along with Thibodeau.
