Karishma Mehta, founder and CEO of Humans of Bombay, has announced plans to sell luxury leather goods as she seeks a way to live without animal cruelty.
Mehta announced her decision in an Instagram post. She began by explaining how girls are conditioned to dream of luxury goods such as the “dream bag,” the “dream closet,” and the “dream shoes.”
“As little girls grow up, we are accustomed to looking at glossy magazines filled with beautiful images of ideal women. As we grow up, we are accustomed to looking at glossy magazines filled with beautiful images of ideal women. “It’s great to dream, in a closet like The Princess Diaries.” I dream big, work hard, He is the flag bearer who will accomplish all the goals to get there,” Mehta wrote in X.
As a vegetarian, she wondered how she could own luxury items made from animal skins even though she doesn’t eat meat.
“As a vegetarian, I don’t eat meat because it doesn’t suit me to eat living things. So, I place a premium on the quality of the animal that is skinned and take pride in being ‘luxury’.” How can it make sense to me to participate in the market? That is not the case,” Mehta wrote.
She shared a few photos along with the post. The photos showed her Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada, YSL collection, Fendi bags and shoes.
The founder of Humans of Bombay (HOB) has vowed to stop buying leather goods altogether and sell all the leather goods he owns.
“We’ve come to the decision to stop buying leather of all kinds, so we’ve decided to use the leather we’ve already purchased. In the coming weeks, we’ll start selling all our leather products.” The proceeds will go to animals It will be donated to a conservation NGO,” she added.
