Kamala Harris said in a scathing interview with the right-wing Fox News Channel on Wednesday night that her presidency is “not a continuation of Joe Biden’s presidency” and that Donald Trump continues to threaten “the enemy within.” criticized Mr. Trump.
The 25-minute interview came after Harris held a rally with more than 100 Republican leaders in Pennsylvania, where she sat down and spoke with Fox News, a consistent supporter of Trump. It was my first time doing so.
Bret Baier, FOX News’ chief political anchor, is seen as a bona fide news counter to the vitriolic programming on FOX News’ nightly shows, but he still focuses on immigrants, transgender rights, Joe Biden, and others. -It was accompanied by a long list of right-wing talking points, including Biden’s performance. Harris tried to sell herself to the channel’s older, primarily Republican audience.
In an earlier interview, when Beyer played footage of the vice president, Harris was asked if there was anything she would “do differently” than Joe Biden, and she said, “What would she have done differently?” I can’t think of any,” he said. The response has been a source of attack among Republicans who have sought to tie Harris to the unpopular Biden administration.
“Let me be clear: My presidency is not a continuation of the Joe Biden Presidency, and like every new president taking office, I will bring my own life experiences, professional experiences, and fresh new ideas to the table. I’m going to bring it in. I represent a new generation of leadership,” Harris said.
“For example, I haven’t spent most of my career in Washington, D.C., so I’m looking for ideas from Republicans who support me, Republicans who just joined me on stage a few minutes ago, and the business sector. Who can contribute to the decisions I make?
Baier pointed to polls showing a majority of Americans believe the country is “on the wrong path,” and said Harris has been vice president since January 2021. I asked him why he would say such a thing even though he was there. Harris suggested that polls show fatigue with Biden and Biden. Considering that Trump has been “running for president” since 2016.
Harris said several prominent former members of the Trump administration are now saying that “people are tired of someone who has publicly said he is unfit to serve, unstable, dangerous, and a leader who has spent a lot of money.” He pointed out that he believed that “it has come to an end.” Time to humiliate yourself or address personal grievances. ”
Baier asked why, given these criticisms, Trump has the support of “half the country.” He added: “Are they stupid?”
“I would never say that about the American people. And in fact, when you listen to Donald Trump’s words and watch his rallies, he is someone who tends to degrade, belittle, and degrade the American people. ” Harris said.
“He’s a guy who talks about the enemy within. The enemy within talks about the American people, and he’s hinting at turning the American military against the American people.”
President Trump appeared on a Fox News town hall episode that aired earlier Wednesday and doubled down on his comments about the “enemy from within.” He characterized the alleged internal enemy, whom he said the military should “deal with”, as “Pelosis” and other political opponents.
The former president was furious at the news that Mr. Baier would be interviewing Ms. Harris, posting on social media that the anchor was “often very kind to people on the ‘cocktail circuit’ left” and that Fox News was “very kind” to people on the left. It has weakened and is friendly to the Democratic Party.”
But Mr. Baier largely stuck to right-wing issues, even as a stand-in for more extreme nighttime hosts such as Sean Hannity and Jesse Watters.
He ran an ad for the Trump campaign, which he suggested was one of the few political ads that “broke out” this year. The ad cites Harris’ 2019 interview in which she said she supported “surgical care” for trans prisoners.
President Trump has spent tens of millions of dollars on anti-transgender ads, but Harris dismissed the issue, saying, “Under Donald Trump’s administration, people in federal prisons were given these services based on medical necessity. I was able to undergo surgery.”
“And, frankly, I think that ad from the Trump campaign is like throwing rocks when you live in a glass house,” she said.
Polls show Ms. Harris and Mr. Trump are effectively tied in most battleground states as both sides try to convince voters before November 5th. Harris’ appearance on Fox News comes amid a number of interviews over the past week. She was interviewed on CBS’s prestigious news show “60 Minutes,” sat with the audience on the talk show “The View,” appeared on the podcast “Call Her Daddy,” and on Tuesday she was interviewed by radio host Sharla. I had a conversation with Magne the God.
Harris is also reportedly in talks to appear on Joe Rogan’s Podcast, the most popular podcast in the United States, which has a large following among young men. President Trump declined to participate in the second debate with Harris on CNN, but said he would appear on Rogan’s podcast.
This was Harris’ first sit-down interview on Fox News, although her running mate, Tim Walz, has appeared on the network many times. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg appears regularly on Fox News, and his calm responses to sometimes hostile questions often go viral, much to the delight of Democrats.
