Universal Pictures is set to premiere the upcoming film “Jurassic World.”
The studio announced Thursday that the Gareth Edwards-directed film will hit theaters on July 2, 2025 and will be titled Jurassic World: Rebirth. Universal released two first-look images of stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali, who co-star alongside Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaze, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Vergy, Bachir Sylvain and Ed Skrein.
Jurassic World: Rebirth is set five years after the events of filmmaker Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World: Dominion. The previous film in the series was released in theaters in June 2022 and starred Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard alongside Jurassic Park returning stars Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill. The film series kicked off in 1993 with Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster Jurassic Park, which was based on author Michael Crichton’s 1990 sci-fi novel of the same name.
In the new film, only a limited number of dinosaurs remain, living in a special biosphere, with three of them holding the key to a potentially life-saving drug. Covert operations expert Zola Bennett (Johansson) attempts to secure genetic material from the dinosaurs, but ends up stranded with a civilian family on an island that holds a secret hidden from humanity for decades.

Edwards (Rogue One) will direct Jurassic World: Rebirth, based on a script by David Koepp, who helmed Jurassic Park and its 1997 sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park. The new film is based on characters created by Crichton.
Longtime Jurassic franchise team members Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will produce Jurassic World: Rebirth. Spielberg, Dennis L. Stewart and Jim Spencer will serve as executive producers.
The new film hits theaters nearly three years after the release of Dominion ended the original Jurassic World trilogy. Beginning with 2015’s Jurassic World, all three films have grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.
