Juan Soto appeared on the “Abriendo Sports” podcast on Sunday, addressing several accusations that were levelled against him by disgruntled Yankees fans after choosing to sign with the Mets despite last season’s World Series in the Bronx.
Soto signed a record 15-year, $765 million contract in December to join the New York Mets. Yankees fans were not satisfied as Soto reportedly declined the $760 million offer during the team’s final 16 years. However, some rumors surfaced, further promoting their frustration.
Some theories suggested that Soto had problems with the Yankees guards. Another argued that he did not feel worthless because he was not offered a luxury suite. Rumors say a $40 million gap between the Mets and Yankees’ offers led to his decision. According to Soto, none of these are true.

“It’s not true that I have problems with the Yankees security guards. It’s not true that I sought a luxury suite, and it’s not true that the Yankees reached points (in the offer) where the difference was $40 million (as regards the Mets’ offer).
What unfolded in Juan Soto’s free agency?
Juan Soto’s free agency has become a bid war between teams in major markets, including The Mets, Dodgers, Yankees, Blue Jays and Red Sox. But before Mets owner Steve Cohen & Company offered a victory, they eventually came down to the Yankees and Mets.
The Mets filed a 15-year, $765 million contract and set records for professional sports in North America. However, Soto reportedly asked his agent Scott Boras to retrieve the offer from the Yankees and ask them to suit it.
Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner and general manager Brian Cashman are fixed and did not increase their 16-year, $760 million proposal. That sealed Soto decision sealed the decision to join the Mets for a long time.
